West Coast Natural Resources Professionals Agroforestry Survey
To better understand the opportunities and barriers to expanding agroforestry across the region, the California Agroforestry Network conducted the West Coast Natural Resources Professionals Survey. This survey was led by Dr. Amy Quandt of San Diego State University in partnership with collaborators across California, Oregon, and Washington.
The survey gathered input from 114 natural resources professionals representing federal and state agencies, Tribal organizations, nonprofit organizations, universities, conservation districts, private consultants, and other technical assistance providers. Participants shared their experiences supporting landowners, identified barriers to agroforestry adoption, assessed training needs, and highlighted opportunities to strengthen technical assistance and collaboration throughout the region.
Survey findings provide valuable insight into the current state of agroforestry knowledge, capacity, and implementation across the West Coast. The results are helping inform our future training programs, educational resources, outreach strategies, and collaborative initiatives designed to better support both natural resources professionals and the landowners they serve.
